In our role as coaches, it is essential that we maintain a safe playing environment for our players. Based on our 2026 SAFE Summary, coaches are required to make sure that they and their players abide by the following rules:
- Each team has a league-issued first aid at all practices and games.
- Fields are inspected before each practice and game and any hazards or debris are removed.
- Batting helmets are inspected at the beginning of the season and monthly after the season begins. Damaged helmets are removed from play.
- All catchers wear a dangling throat guard, even when using hockey-style catcher's masks.
- For any potential head injury, coaches follow the "When in doubt, sit 'em out" rule.
- On deck batters are not permitted in the Majors Division and below
- Batters, base runners, and player base coaches must wear helmets at all times
- Metal cleats are prohibited in the Majors Division and below
- Head-first sliding while advancing is not permitted in the Majors Division and below
- Pitch count limits and required rest days must be followed in all baseball divisions
- Bats in the Majors Division and below have a USABat logo. Bats in the Juniors Division have either a USABat or BBCOR logo.
- During games, any game balls in poor condition are removed from play.
Beyond the field, coaches also have important responsibilities towards their players as described in Little League's Child Protection Program. Please review the Coaches Training page and the Reporting Player Incidents page for more details
