Keeping Players Safe On and Off the Field

In our role as coaches, it is essential that we maintain a safe playing environment for our players. Coaches are required to make sure that they and their players abide by the following rules:

  • Each team has a league-issued first aid at all practices and games.
  • Fields are inspected before each practice and game and any hazards or debris are removed.
  • Batting helmets are inspected at the beginning of the season and monthly after the season begins. Damaged helmets are removed from play.
  • All catchers wear a dangling throat guard, even when using hockey-style catcher's masks.
  • For any potential head injury, coaches follow the "When in doubt, sit 'em out" rule.
  • On deck batters are not permitted in the Majors Division and below
  • Batters, base runners, and player base coaches must wear helmets at all times
  • Metal cleats are prohibited in the Majors Division and below
  • Head-first sliding while advancing is not permitted in the Majors Division and below
  • Pitch count limits and required rest days must be followed in all baseball divisions
  • Bats in the Majors Division and below have a USABat logo. Bats in the Juniors Division have either a USABat or BBCOR logo.
  • During games, any game balls in poor condition are removed from play.
